Tomasso, Mario M., 88, of So. Pasadena, FL, died peacefully Friday, May 3, 2013 at Bay Pines VA Health Care System.
Mario was a US Marine Corps veteran of WWII whose service included the invasion of Iwo Jima, where he earned the Purple Heart Medal. Following a career as Manager with New England Telephone/Verizon, he moved to South Pasadena where he is remembered for his principled, dedicated service to his country, his family and community, and his many years as President of Shore Towers Condominium Association.
Mario is survived by his wife, Cecile (nee Robert); a son, Thomas (Jeanne) Tomasso of RI; a daughter, Denise Tomasso (Philip) Hippert of RI; four stepchildren, Michael (Carol) Treglia of MD, Robert (Kathy) Treglia of CT, Mary (John) Mc Elhone of NV, and Louise (Joseph) Reulbach of WA; a brother, Raymond Tomasso, Esq. of RI; a granddaughter, Alison Tomasso; step-grandchildren, Vincent & Alison Treglia, Steven & Anne Treglia, Christopher & Erin McElhone, Alisha & Hannah Reubach; 4 sisters-in-law, Alice (Anthony) Quattromani of VA, Irene (Alfred) Theriault of VA, Rita (Eugene) Gilbert of VA, and Mary Jo Robert of MD; and a brother-in-law, Rene (Kathy) Robert of RI.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be presented at 2:15 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines 33744.
