Mary Ruth Ross was born on May 20, 1932 to George and Emma Bennett in Point Pleasant, New Jersey and grew up in Seaside Heights, New Jersey where she helped build her family home.
On July 18, 1950, Mary married Ford Ulrich Ross and together they raised their 3 children, Ford Ulrich Ross Jr., Andrew Kevin Ross and Louis Tayloe Ross. Mary’s husband was a career Navy Officer and she faithfully took care of the family whenever he was called to duty away from the family home. She spent many years selling Avon and Tupperware until all her boys grew up and moved on at which time she began her career transporting school children for private schools. By the time she retired, she was driving a full size charter bus and she cared for each child as though they were her own. Mary’s primary leisure activities included being active in the Great Dane dog rescue program, family camping, bowling and enjoying time with her grand and great grand children.
Mary’s husband passed away in 2010 and a few months later she moved in with her son Andrew and his girlfriend, Joni Palmer. On August 29, 2012, Mary passed away peacefully in her sleep after having spent the previous night with all of her children, grand children and great grand children by her side. Mary is survived by her 3 sons, Ford, Andrew and Louis, 4 Grand children, Jessica, Lindsay, Ryan and Zachary and 5 Great Grand Children, Jeremy, Caitlyn, Lexi, Laci and Zadan. Mary will be buried with her husband at Bay Pines National Cemetery in Saint Petersburg, Florida.

Mom, I love you and miss you. I can’t fully express how honored I feel to have had you so close to me during the last few years. I wasn’t the easiest son to love, but you never gave up on me and your love for me never faultered. If there is an after-life, I hope that you are walking side-by-side with your mom, dad, sister and brother, as well as dad, his family and every one else you have loved over the years.
Mom, I love you and always will. Thank you for providing me with a loving home to grow up in. You can see that I am doing the next right thing one day at a time now and will continue doing so. Say hey to everyone in the spirit-realm for me that I will be there with you all some day. I’m gonna sing a song and bowl a game for you, Mom, among other things…
A family member from afar. Sad that the world no longer has her.
Grandma, I miss you so much already! I wish I could have spent more time with you before you left us, but I am so thankful that I did get to see you at Zach’s wedding and also see you and speak with you on Skype the night of your passing! You are an amazing woman and I hope I can become as great of a woman as you were! I will think of you always and pass your memory on forever! Every time someone tickles my back, I think of all the times we compromised. You would tickle my back as I would tickle your knee and hands! There are so many great memories to hold to and I will cherish them forever! Now you are with our God and Gramps and I am so blessed to know that you and Gramps are there together, watching over me and our family! I love you Grandma! May you rest in peace!
Everyone, Know that Jesus is real and so is heaven. I knew Ruth as my Aunt all my life and from talking to her know she believed in Jesus. If anyone could find the best in people it was her. No animosity just love. Rest assured she is with Uncle Ford and neither one of them have any more pain. The bible says to be absent from the body ids to be with The Lord. Thats where she is. No doubt about it.
I miss you mom, your youngest.
Thinking of you right now and missing you ❤️
