Michael Anthony Rizzi, 85, entered into rest at his home in Lutz, FL on Monday, September 3, 2007 after battling cancer. Michael was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 3, 1922. He grew up in Brooklyn and in 1942, he enlisted in the Coast Guard. He served in the Pacific during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He met his wife, Helen, at Coney Island in New York. They were married and moved to Easton, Pennsylvania where he worked in the Bethlehem Steel Mills. They lived a short time in Hazleton, PA before moving to Tampa, FL in 1962.
Michael will long be remembered for his wit, humor and good heart. He was a family oriented man who loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is pre-deceased by his wife, Helen of Tampa, two sisters, Lena and Esther, and a brother Daniel, all of Brooklyn. He is survived by his three children: daughter, Helen Sanchez of Seffner, son Michael of Lutz, and son David and his wife Sandra of Tampa; five grandchildren: Shelby Martinez and her husband Ray, David Anderson and his wife Rachelle, Nicole Lopez and her husband Robbie, Jessica and Meagan and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters: Theresa Cutillo of Brickton, NJ and Jennie Cutillo of Staten Island, NY.
There will be a graveside burial with full military honors at Florida National Cemetery on Friday, September 7, 2007 in Bushnell Florida at 12:30 p.m.
Arrangements were entrusted to Veterans Funeral Care.
I am always overwhelmed at the love that some families so readily display. Your family has been a joy and priviledge to assist with arrangements, and my thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

It was great sharing stories and speaking with Michael last Christmas with the family at David and Sandra’s house. He filled us with laughter with some of his funny stories which we will remember. Our prayers and thoughts are with David and his family.
