Michael Charles Laky passed away at his apartment in Bon Secours Place on 4/27/2013 at 92 years of age.
Mike was born in Philadelphia, PA. At the end of the Second World War in which he enlisted in the Army, Mike returned to Philadelphia and fell in love with Edna Laky, his wife of 56 years. They raised three daughters and a son, while operating Laky’s Restaurant in Philadelphia until retirement in 1983. They relocated to St. Petersburg, FL in 2001. Mike will be remembered for his quick wit, warm smile and gentleness to all that he met.
Michael C. Laky is survived by his daughters Joanne Rattigan, Portland, OR, Barbara Gilbert, Pennsburg, PA, son Michael S. Laky, St. Petersburg, FL, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Edna and his daughter Catherine Laky, Anchorage, AK.
Services will be held at Holy Family Church, 78th Avenue, NE, St. Petersburg, FL at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, May 7, 2013. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 PM until service time. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 118 Avenue North, Clearwater, FL with military honors being provided by the United States Marine Corps League Det. # 54.
