Michael Mahr, ETM1C-US Navy-World War II Veteran funeral services are 2:30 PM, Friday, March 9, 2012, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513 with Captain Arthur Nave and the Marion County Military Honor Guard, to officiate.
A native of Newark, NJ and a local resident since 2004, when he moved here from Land of the Woods, Virginia; he was a retired Electrical Engineer for New York Telephone Company; a Christian and a graduate of Cornell University. During his military service he was awarded the Victory Medal; American Campaign Medal; Asiatic Pacific Medal with 1 Star; American Defense Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He served on the USS California; USS Mexico and was attached to the US Navy V-12 Unit, Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.
Michael is preceded in death by his father and mother; a daughter, Jean Trawick; two brothers, Larry Mahr and Frank Mahr. He is survived by his loving family: his wife of 46 1/2 years, Lillian Mahr of New Port Richey, FL; his son, Michael A. Mahr and his wife, Denise of Huntington, NY; his daughters; Andrea Blass and her husband, Bob of Voorhees, NJ and Stephanie Elle and her husband, Bob of Powder Springs, GA; his four brothers: Joe Mahr and his wife, Bernice of Manlius, NY, Walter Mahr of Oahu, HI; Paul Mahr of Neptune, NJ and John Mahr of Avenel, NJ; his two sisters: Anne Lang and her husband, Art of Hillside, NJ and Matilda Capano of South Orange, NJ; ten grandchildren: Israel, Rachel Kirk, Danielle, Michael, Gabrielle, Alaine Call, Emily Blass, Greg Blass, Justin Elle and Chris Elle and eight great-grandchildren: Abagail, Isaac, Aaron, Ben, Laiken, Addison, Josiah and Makenzy.

I am so sorry for your loss. Lil I know Michael was your world and I am praying for you and your family to find comfort in the knowledge that he is now in paradise watching over you. Lil the love that the two of you had for each other was so apparent whenever I saw you together. I could tell he was your Knight in Shining Armor.

Dear Mom, We will never forget the loving care your gave Dad in his last few months of life. You were a wonderful wife to him and we appreciate the joy you brought to him for 46 12 years. Mimi and Papa: I am so thankful I was able to come down and spend the week with Papa last week. I enjoyed taking care of him and reminising on old times. You both have been such a vital part of my life and have always been there for me no matter how many miles separated us. I will remember Papa best for his wisdom and keen advice and how he loved to play music with you. THe love you both shared was enviable and refreshing to see. You both were the lyrics to one anothers life’s song and an inspiration to me. He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. I am so glad we will meet again someday soon and all be together. I am sure my mother has already showed him the hot spots of heaven and they are pigging out now fromthe master’s table. Their journey is over, and we must continue on for now.
