Naomi Veva Carr, 85, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2012 at HPH Hospice.
Naomi was born in Tampa on September 30th, 1926 and was the youngest child of Lois Belle Whillock. Naomi had nine brothers and sisters and her mother who preceded her that she will join in joy now. Her brothers were Meredith, John, Lee, Harley, and James Whillock. Sisters were Harriet Franklin, Hazel Bragg, Ruth Bragg, and Evelyn O’Malley.
As a child, Naomi performed on the Saturday morning children’s program, singing at radio station WMBR at the Floridan Hotel. She also was a good tap dancer and performed in many plays. During the Depression her family moved to Lutz and Naomi attended classes at the Old Lutz School. While in Lutz she met the love of her life, Johnny Carr. They were married like so many young soldiers at the end of WWII on July 7th, 1945.
Naomi had a son, Jack, in November of 1949 and was a homemaker for the rest of her life. She lost her love, Johnny, in 1995 and has been eager to join him and her brothers, sisters, mother and Jesus since then. While we all will miss her being with us we know she is happier and free of the pain she suffered for the last several years.
We want to thank the HPH Hospice in Dade City for the wonderful, compassionate care they gave Naomi during her last few months. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions In Memory Of Naomi V.Carr to HPH Hospice Foundation, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, FL 34667.
God Bless you, Mom, we will love you and hold you in our hearts always.
Funeral services will be held at a later date. Please sign the guestbook below.
SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. I AM THE OLDEST DAUGHTER OF MEREDITH WHILLOCK.
I am the youngest daughter of Meredith. Naomi and I shared many memories as we grew up (often together). We’ll miss you Naomi. Love
We first met Naomi in January, 2005, at the Oakcrest Apartments, Dade City, FL. We were doing laundry together and she invited me (Sheryl) to come to her apartment to see her beautiful antique fairy lamps. Our relationship blossomed from there and we grew to love her as a friend and “sister” in the Lord. Now she is with Him and we look forward to the day when we will be reunited.
