Later, as an Aeronautical Engineer, among his many accomplishments include working in research and development to modernize the Grumman fire-fighting water bomber Albatross while with Resorts International. He later worked with Chalmers Goodland, President of The Burnelli Company, Inc., to develop the Burnelli Lifting Body Aircraft.
Colonel Golden married Peggy Meagher of Louisville, Kentucky on January 23, 1942. Following World War II, they moved to Miami, Florida where they raised their two daughters, Judith and Peggy Lee, and resided until 1989. Upon his retirement, Colonel and Mrs. Golden moved to Palm City, Florida and resided until 2008 when they moved to The Oaks of Clearwater to be close to family.
His many loves in life included his family, flying, the U.S. Marine Corps, travel, playing golf and tennis, and football.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Peggy, who was at his side when he passed; his two daughters, Judith and Peggy Lee; son-in-law, John Powers; two grandsons, Michael Shannon and Kevin Glenn; and three great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Keaton, and Evan.

Judy, I was trying to locate you and came across this article of your father.
It is a beautiful memory of such an exciting and successful life. I remember spending at least one Thanksgiving at their home. Both of your parents were very gracious.

Our deepest sympathy to Peggy and her family.
My condolences to Peggy and the Golden family. I have always enjoyed a visit with Norm and Peggy and to talk of military history and love of aviation.
