Norman K, Courtney, 49, of Bradenton, FL passed away at Blake Memorial Hospital, Bradenton, Florida on September 23, 2012 from natural causes.
 
Born in Colby, Kansas on January 18, 1963, he has been a Florida resident since 2002, previously from Lorain, Ohio, Okeechobee, St Petersburg, Largo, Sarasota, Florida. He was of the Protestant faith and worked as a customer service representative  for Image First, a health care laundry service.  He served our nation in the United States Air Force. During his military service SGT Courtney was awarded the United States Air Force Training Medal; United States Air Force Good Conduct Medal; United States Air Force Overseas Medal and the United States Air Force Longevity Service Medal.  He also graduated from the United States Air Force NCO Preparatory Course.

Norman loved doing things with his family and loved them all very much.  He loved going to the Eagles Lodge and playing horseshoes, pool and computerize bowling with his Daddy and brother, Chuck.  He enjoyed singing Karaoke, going to the Hard Rock Casino and following his favorite NASCAR driver, Jimmy Johnson. Norman loved to cook for his family and was especially remembered for cooking holiday dinners.  He was a man that loved life very much and enjoyed life to the fullest.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Courtney and Jean Wolfe and a step brother, Joe Estep.  He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Linda Courtney of Bradenton, Florida; his step daughters, Tina Elder of Okeechobee, Florida and Charlene Young of Clearwater, Florida; his step-parents, Freddie and Nancy Wolfe of Clearwater, Florida; his brothers; Charles “Chuck” Courtney of Bradenton, Florida and Gene Courtney of Louisville, Kentucky; his sisters; Kathy Fergus and Pauline Lowery, both of Ohio; three grandchildren: Jessica Young, Brittany Boggs and Joshua Boggs; his four great grandchildren: Jada Miley, Jalin Miley, Cannon O’Dell and Jacey May; two step brothers, Bill Estep and Robbie Estep and two step sisters, Janet Discenzo and Mary Estep.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Gulf Coast Church, 13301 Walsingham Road, Largo, Florida, 33774. The family will greet friends starting at 9:00AM and at 10:00AM a Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Randy Morris.  Graveside services and military honors take palce at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, Ocotber 2, 2012, at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road #72, Sarasota, FL  34241.  Reverend Gary Boughman and Chaplin Larry with the  Kirby Stewart American Legion Post # 24 will be officiating and providing military honors at the cemetery.
