LANNI, Orlando Louis, 89, of Palm Harbor, Fla., passed away January 9, 2010.
Born in Bayonne, N.J., he retired to Florida from Middletown, N.J., in 1983. Mr. Lanni graduated from the New Jersey Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical enginering in 1943. Early in his 40-year career, he designed nuclear submarines and troop conversion plans for the superliners. He worked worldwide on fossil and nuclear power plants, and in the early stages of the space program. Mr. Lanni served in World War II in the Phillipine Islands. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Angelina; his son, Orlando Jr. (Nancy) Lanni; his daughter, Yolande (Dennis) Allen; and grandchildren, Cameron, Courtney, Julia and Nicolas.
Orlando is interred at Sarasota National Cemetery.
