Otto Walter Malwitz, 95, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System in Bay Pines, FL. He was born in Carteret, NJ and moved to the area in the 1980’s.
He served his country during World War II in the US Navy. After completing his tours of duty, he resided in Stamford, CT for many years. He loved to cook, was and avid bike rider, a shuffleboard and gin rummy king. He remained a member of his local American Legion and VFW. He was proud to have served his country and will be sadly missed.
He was predeceased by his mother and father and a son, Donald Malwitz of NJ.
He is survived by a son, Robert (Marie) Malwitz; two daughters, Roseann Malwitz Buchanan of Semmes, AL and Barbara Malwitz of St. Petersburg, FL; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There will be a Military Honors Service at Florida National Cemetery on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at 1:00PM. He will be interred following the service.
