Owen Lee Eckert, 91, died peacefully in his sleep at home on December 4, 2012.
He was born June 29, 1921, in Plymouth, IN, and after high school attended the South Bend College of Commerce. He enlisted in the US Army in 1942. Owen worked in Accounting for Bendix and Studebakers for eight years. He worked for CBS-Electronics in Kalamazoo, MI and in Chicago, IL as Manager of the Distribution Center. Around 1960 he transferred to CBS-Columbia Records in Terre Haute, IN. In 1983, he retired and moved to Sarasota, FL, then Bradenton, FL. He was active in his church and volunteered in his community.
Owen is survived by Vivian, his wife of 67 years, daughters, Marcia of New York City and Adele of Birmingham, MI; a son, Bruce, of Bradenton; a brother, Eugene, of Plymouth; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 11 AM at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 3131 61st Street, Sarasota, FL 34243. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the church.

It was so good to talk with Owen to get details of Grandfather George and the family that I didn’t remember from growing up. My Dad (Elmer) was Owen’s uncle.
