Paul W. Correll, Sr
Born May 13, 1921 in Tamaqua, PA; he was a proud WWII Veteran of the Marines – a Corporal in Second Marine Division; served in the Pacific Theater, those campaigns included Saipan, Tinian, Nagasaki. Loved his family, sports, camping, fishing, boating, water-skiing -retrieving Mom’s fishing pole from water. He was also a good cook – hold the onions! Dad helped us participate in numerous sports – & more importantly, taught us true sportsmanship. He taught us how to navigate through life, with common sense & a constant compass in our head. He taught us how to survive, in any kind of situation. Preceded in death on April 18, 2009 by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary D. Correll, he is survived by three children: Joyce Pessolano and her husband, Jim, Paul W. Correll, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, and Veronica Correll and her partner, Diana; grandchildren Jonathan and Jennifer Correll; his sister, Theresa Yeakel and her husband, Allen; his brothers: Charles Carrell, George (Jake) Correll and his wife, Alice, and Donald Correll and his wife, Nancy; and numerous nieces and nephews. No flowers please. Help a Vet! And remember your history! Our Dad – our hero!
Memorial services will be celebrated on Monday, May 18, 2009 from Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Florida.
I just miss you so much… I love you and will miss talking to you! There’s so much you’ve done for me… Thanks for being my Dad (I’m not crying – or at least trying not to).
This is how I’d like to remember you, Dad…..at a Ray’s game, cheering for the home team and munching on a big soft pretzel. You brought so much life to so many….you will be missed. With eternal love and gratitude, your son, Paul Jr.
Lost my hubby 4152006 and when I noticed the closeness of their passing, had to come to the Veterans site to learn more about them.
My condolences to the family, only wish I could have met them, they sound like a very inspiring couple.
