Peter Anthony Marchiony, born on September 13, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY, to Anna & Anthony Marchiony, died on December 20, 2012.
He was a very loving, very devoted husband to Irma for 68 wonderful years. From 1943 to 1945, he was a Veteran of the Army-Air Force during World War II, and served with the 304th Bomb Wing (H) and 459th Bomb Group as an aerial gunner. As a tail gunner on a B-24, Peter flew 50 missions over Italy and was awarded the American Theater Service Medal, European – African – Middle Eastern – Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars.
After serving in the Army, Peter was employed by Sperry Gyroscope as a Mechanical Engineer in Long Island, New York. He was transferred to Huntsville, Alabama, where he worked on the guidance system for the Space Program, NASA's Skylab and the Saturn V Rocket Booster. He relocated to Clearwater, FL, where he continued to work on the Sky Lab for NASA and the Space Program for the Space Shuttle with Hercules.
Peter is survived by his wife Irma, four married children, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Peter was a terrific person and all that knew him "loved him". He was a master film maker and proudly documented all of his family’s important events. He was a legendary cook and a "magician with a box of tools". He loved keeping in touch with his relatives and the most important thing to him his whole life was his wife, 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great- grandchildren. He was the family’s hero, and we all will miss him.
A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 25, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 7851 54th Avenue No., St. Petersburg 33709, with Full Military Honors following at Bay Pines National Cemetery.

Love you Uncle Pete!
I remember Pete as being loving, fun and a great father and friend.
My Dad was an amazing Dad, Father, Uncle, Grandpa & Great Grandpa & Husband to our Mom for almost 68 years – their anniversary is Jan 20, 1945! Plus all the cousins, relatives, co-workers & neighbors who knew what a wonderful spirit Dad had – & appreciated him too!. We will all miss him very much but I must remind myself that “his love lives in all of us” and the memories we have and they’re a zillion wonderful ones will help us all until we meet again with him and Matt looking over us forever in God’s hands….. I luv ya DAD!
I have such wonderful memories with the Marchionys!!!! I loved him very much,,, He was sooo much fun and I remember how much he loved his kids!!!! What a wonderful legacy you left! Love ya.
I have fond memories of Peter when I was fortunate enough to have spent a week at his home in Clearwater many years ago. He treated me as if I was one of the family without hesitation. In that time I witness his undying love for his wife Irma and family. I know that he is smiling down on us from heaven. Love ya Uncle Pete.
We are sorry to loose a wonderful friend as well a wonderful neighbor. We learned to love them after we retired. Wonderful memories of going out to eat pizza and having fun.
Love you so much Papa!!! Not a day goes by where I don’t think of all of the wonderful times we got to have with you. Just over Thanksgiving you were giving kisses to Meme’ on her forehead & she would giggle & laugh at his sweet gestures. That’s the image that I will always think of as I remember my amazing Papa!
I am so saddened to learn of the death of my Great Uncle Peter!! I have such wonderful memories of his sweet and happy demeanor, and loved to be around him with my Great Aunt Irma!! They were such a wonderful couple and I will truly miss him!!
Uncle Pete & I go way back – 1942 to be exact – the year I was born, I even remember having a pillow fight with Bob at Uncle Pete’s Mom’s house in New York City. He was definitely on my favorite uncle list. I’ll miss him till I find him again someday.
Love Marilyn
Victoria and family…I am truly sorry for your loss. Your Dad was a great man in my eyes also. It was so easy to see the love of his family and friends pouring out of him.
Sincerely, Ann
I’m so sorry that my Uncle Pete is no longer with us. There has never been a time that I didn’t have a smile on my face when I was with him. He would tell me things about my dad because he died before I could know him. And he would always make sure everyone had what they needed. He was a very thoughtful man! I loved it when he would bring us places or we would follow him and he would go fast. He was a good driver. To all my extended family in Fl. please know how sorry I am. Love Alan
Dear Marchiony family, I feel so fortunate to have met most of the Peter and Irma Marchiony family in the past few years. I viewed him as a true patriarch with wisdom, leadership, loyalty, values, love and laughter! He welcomed everyone with grace. I know all of the beautiful memories will remain in your hearts forever!
Fondly, Suzy
Pete,
I thought of you as my brother – rather than brother-in-law – you were such a good man – good husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, friend, etc – and a great cook! I’ll never forget the delicious Bracciole you made one time when we visited.
I miss you Pete, and I hope we will meet again someday.
Love,
Elsie
