Raymond E. Everett, 85, of Largo, FL passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012 at Largo Medical Center.
He moved here from his native Chicago, IL in 1979. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, earning the rank of Private First Class. He retired as a firefighter with the Chicago FD and retired later from the Indian Rocks Beach Fire Dept., FL. He was a member of the Chicago Fire Fighters Union, Local #2, the Brotherhood Of The Barrel in Chicago, and the American Legion A. Ruser Jr. Post #273 in Madeira Beach, FL. He was a proud Tampa Bay Buccaneers Season Ticket Holder and enjoyed visiting his family and trips to the casinos.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane (Sojka) [visit her guestbook on this website]. Survivors include his four stepsons: Richard Sojka of Valparaiso, IN, Edward, Jeffrey, and Timothy Sojka all of Chicago; stepdaughter, Mary Jo Havlick of Chicago; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A graveside service with military honors will be presented at 10AM on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to a charity of choice.
