Veterans Funeral Care Richard Reis

Richard “Dick” Reis, 84, of Trinity, FL passed away on Sunday July 11, 2010 at HPH Hospice's Marliere Care Center in New Port Richey after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Richard was born to Charles and Alma Reis on January 26, 1926 in Perrysburg, Ohio. After spending his childhood years in Perrysburg, Richard joined the Air Force, after which he earned a Bachelors degree in education and a Masters degree in counseling from Bowling Green University in Ohio. Following graduation, Richard taught and coached at Arcadia High School in Arcadia, Ohio. Shortly thereafter, he married Dolores “Dee” Rimmelin in 1950; their 7 children were born and raised in Perrysburg, Ohio. Dick spent his career (31 years) with Gulf Oil in Ohio and Michigan. Following retirement, Dick and Dee moved to Largo, FL before settling in Trinity.

Dick was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing on trips to his beloved Ohio well into his 80’s. Dick golfed regularly and enjoyed sports of all kinds; he was a dedicated fan of all Ohio sports teams, although in recent years he became a fan of the Tampa Bay Rays (unless they were playing the Cleveland Indians). Richard is survived by wife, Dee; their 7 children, Patty LeDuc and husband, Noel of Port Richey, FL; Rick Reis of Forks, WA; Peggy Holdrege-Reis and husband, Tom of Nevada City, CA; Lynn Egert of Portage Lakes, OH; James Reis of Palm Harbor, FL; Mary Reis of Palm Harbor, FL; and Carol Reis of North Port, FL. Richard is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and his loyal companion, a Shitsu puppy named Lola.

Honor guard graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 27th at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, FL.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the compassion and care that Richard received from Hospice in the days preceding his passing by requesting that donations be made in lieu of flowers to Marliere Hospice Care Center, 6801 Rowan Road, New Port Richey, FL 34653.
