Richard Heavenridge of Largo passed away peacefully Sunday December 19th at the age of 78.
He was born May 4th in Indianapolis, Indiana to Raymond and Martha Heavenridge. He was the eldest of 10 children all of whom still live in Indiana. He served in the US Army and was married twice after leaving the service. He had 3 children from his first marriage Raymond, Kathy, and Cleo and then moved to Florida in 1959. There he met his second wife Barbara in 1960 and had 3 children with her Richard Jr., Andrew and David. They were together until his passing, a total of 50 years.
He retired from Publix as a butcher and then tried his hand at the produce business he spent most of his free time with his wife, family and his friends at the VFW. He loved sports of almost any kind and thoroughly enjoyed fishing and playing golf. He boasted of his big family, especially his grandchildren and he will be missed.
He was a loving husband, father and friend and he is survived by his wife Barbara, children Raymond, Kathy, Cleo, Richard Jr., Andrew and David, his grandchildren Megan, Justine, Drew, Candace, Jessie, Allison, Cameron, Brie, Haven, Chelsea, Josh, Allen, Amy, Aime, Andy, Amber, Johnny, Adriene, Jason, and Lee, great grandchildren Tatum, Michael, Dakota, Madison, Jackson, Laura, Jordan, Jaden, and Isiah.
His funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 4th at 2:15 pm at Bay Pines Cemetery located at 10000 Bay Pines Blvd, Bay Pines, FL. Funeral arrangements will be handled by the Veterans Funeral Care located at 15381 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL and there will be a gathering to remember immediately following at the VFW #10094 located at 14268 Walsingham Road, Largo, FL 33774. My prayers are with Barbara, Andy as well the rest of the family during this time of sadness. Richard will truely be missed, but we can rest assure that we will see him again in heaven. Thank You Richard for your service to our country. God Bless You Barbara!
