Robert Eugene DeNisco, 76, of Brandon, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at his home. He was norn in New York, NY and moved here in 1990 from Brooklyn, NY.

Mr. DeNisco served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a decorated soldier with a Bronze Star, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnam Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

After his time in the service, he worked for Brinks as an Air Courier for many years. In 1970, he averted a hijacking aboard TWA Flight 15 that was flying from North Korea to Los Angeles, CA. As a result, he received commendations from President Richard Nixon, DOT Secretary John W. Volpe, the Federal Aviation Administration for Extraordinary Service, and Congressman Dan Rostenkowski. He was honored by the 91st Congress in the Congressional Record dated September 16, 1970. He also received numerous letters of appreciation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Eugina DeNisco. He is survived by his sister, Jean Jerstead of Orlando, FL; nephews, Al, George, and Raymond of Valrico; and niece, Margo of New York, NY.

Military Honor Services will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at 2:30PM at Florida National Cemetery.
