Robert H. Kern, 86, of South Pasadena, FL, formerly of Princeton, died at 8:23 p.m. Feb. 9, 2010, at Woodside Hospice, Pinellas Park, FL.

Mr. Kern was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Princeton to Horace W. and Viola (Piper) Kern. He married Loretta Herrmann on June 21, 1947, in Sts. Peter and Paul rectory in Spring Valley.
He was a graduate of Princeton High School in 1943.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the 9th Division, 60th FA, European duty. He participated in the Normandy invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Purple Heart
He owned and operated Kern Motor Company in Princeton until he moved to Florida in 1981. He then worked at Dew Cadillac, Inc, St Petersburg, FL and Publix Supermarket, South Pasadena, FL and had been a member of the Elk’s Club # 1224.

Survivors include one son, Laurence Kern of Princeton; a niece and nephew, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on May 27, 1980, and one brother, Donald Kern.
He was a tissue donor. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be at a later date with burial in Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Princeton.
