Veterans Funeral Care Robert Finney

Robert Miller Finney, MSGT-US Army-Retired- World War II-Korean War and Vietnam War Veteran- 83, of St Petersburg, FL died at the Suncoast Hospice House-Bayfront, St. Petersburg, FL, on May 8, 2012 from service related cancer.  He also served in the US Navy before transferring to the United States Army.

A native of Wilmington, DE and a local resident since 1975, when he moved here from Seoul, Korea; he was a retired United States Army Club Manager and after his retirement, he was the owner of several local taverns and finally owned the “Southern Kumfort” in Largo, FL. His nickname was “Bar Keep” and he was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Masonic Lodge and he also was a Shriner. During his military career, he was awarded the United States Army Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and the United States Army Good Conduct Medal with 6 devices.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Finney and Florence (Kinsler) Finney-Wilkinson; sister, Ruth White; brother, Howard; and son, Doug.  Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Chin Finney of St. Petersburg, FL; four sons, Stanley Finney and his wife, Vicki of Greenville, SC,  Kenneth Finney and his wife, Lenore of Portland, OR, Robert Finney, Jr. and his wife Janet of New Castle, DE, and Rick Finney and his wife, Linda of Wilmington, DE; a brother, Frank Finney and his wife, Luci of Springfield, IL; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

His services with full military honors will be presented at 10:45 AM on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, FL 33744.
