Veterans Funeral Care Ronald Young

Ronald E. Young, beloved father and husband, died December 19, 2011.  He was 84 years old and is survived by his daughters, Robin and Caroline, and his son-in-law, Charles Eitel.

Ron, a resident of the Tampa Bay area for 33 years, was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and was a journalism graduate of Syracuse University.  After a stint in the Brooklyn Dodgers Farm League, he worked for the FBI for 29 years in Miami, Santa Fe, New York City and D.C. on a wide range of investigative assignments.  In 1975, he was responsible for the operation of the FBI’s first press office in NYC.  He moved his family to Tampa and served as media representative and training coordinator for the National Academy and subsequently retired from the Bureau in 1980.  Interested in exploring a new career, he started as Chief Security Officer at Exchange Bank and continued the role, as acquisitions occurred, ultimately becoming head of Security for Bank of America.

Ron met his wife, Callie, in D.C. and they were married in 1954 at the National Presbyterian Church.  They traveled extensively but Ron’s passion was the golf course, where he made many life-long friends.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at St. Pete Yacht Club, 11 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg, Florida in the Harbor View Room.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to your local Parkinson’s foundation.
