Rosa Adalee Keen Brady
Rosa was born February 16, 1913 at Ft. Green, Florida to parents, Belonie and Lela L. Keen. She was one of ten (10) children: Alfred, Owen, Melvin, Alton, Lester, Lillie, Mary, Louise and Pauline.
Her childhood was spent in Duette, “Keentown”, Manatee County, Florida. She completed the eighth grade at Duette Community School, now the oldest operating, one room school in Florida.
She was courted by William Causey Brady, Manatee County, Florida and they married on March 1, 1930 in Wauchula, Hardee County, Florida. To this union was born (9) children: William Riley Brady; Estelle Brady Albritton; Jimmie Ray Brady; Edna Marie Brady Johnson; Gene Allen Brady; Larry Gordon Brady; Frank Lloyd Brady; Gloria Ann Brady Singletary and James Lynell Brady. To these were added 22 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.
The family resided in Parrish, Manatee County, Florida growing celery, then to Hardee County working with cattle and citrus groves, before settling in Limona, Hillsborough County, Florida in 1946. Causey took care of the Woodbury Estate on Woodbury Road until his death in 1963.
Having been a homemaker and never worked outside of the home, she enrolled in USF and received her certificate to teach kindergarden, a profession she was well trained for, having raised a large family. She went on to become the Director of the first kindergarden at Six Mile Creek Baptist Church, Tampa, Florida.
She was a talented seamstress, sewing for her own family and others. She also loved her flowers and had a great “Green Thumb”, sharing her garden plants and blooms with others.
Rosa later retired to take care of her ailing mother in Brandon, Florida.
After the death of her mother, she continued to be faithful to her church, First Baptist Church of Brandon, and to helping others. She remained in the Brandon Community until her illness necessitated hospitalization and assisted living care in July 2011.
She went home to be with the Lord, October 2, 2011.
She will be remembered in many ways . . . as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. But most of all she will be remembered for her faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and her service to Him.
Rosa’s funeral is 1 pm, Thursday, October 6, 2011 at East Thonotosassa Baptist Church, 12735 Knights Griffin Road, Thonotosassa, FL. The family will receive friends at the East Thonotosassa Baptist Church from 12 pm until service time. Burial will be private at the New Hope Cemetery.

Dear Edna, Chester, Melissa, Mark & Families- Our hearts are saddened to learn of Mrs. Brady’s passing, but our hearts take comfort in knowing that this was for her, a Promotion – and that it is only a Separation. She was not only a beautiful lady on the outside, but a precious and beautiful lady on the inside- her Love for The Lord was evident in the life she lived and truly a Testimony for Her ( Our) Lord. She was blessed with a wonderful family- and her family was a blessing to her. For our family, she always acknowledged us in a warm and caring way- we were blessed to have our paths cross. To each of you we express our heartfelt sympathy, we regret that we can not travel down to be with you during this time, but know that our Love and Prayers are with you.
