Furney, Roy K., 79, of Plant City, FL passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, Tampa.
Born in Turkey Creek, FL, he was a graduate of Turkey Creek High School. He worked for Sanchez Bag Company in Ybor City and retired from Knights Construction in Tampa. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and earned the rank of Specialist 4th Class. He was a fan of NASCAR and drag racing.
Roy was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye and parents, Edgar and Mary. Survivors include his wife, Annah; two sons, Michael of Tampa and Milton of Brandon, FL; brother, Robert; sister, Louise McKinney; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 AM on Monday, January 14, 2013 at Countryside Baptist Church, 13422 Sydney Road, Dover 33527. Interment with military honors will follow at Turkey Creek First Baptist Church Cemetery.
