Silvera A. Garcia, 82, a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011,in Tampa, Florida. His wife of 49 years, Joyce Estelle Garcia, preceded him in death as well as his mother and father, Josephine and Paul Garcia.
He was born, June 20, 1928 in Elmore, Minnesota and resided in Tampa, Fl.for over 30 years.
He is survived by his children, Michael Garcia of Conyers, GA., Robert Garcia (Annette) of Mansfield, TX., Susan Pospishil (Lewis) of Tampa, Fl., Silvera Steven Garcia (Janie) of Inverness, Fl., Debra Garcia of Tampa, Fl., and Kathy Deml(David) of Tampa, Fl.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
His siblings; Benjamin Garcia, East Grand Forks, MN., Irma Long, Minneapolis, MN., Irene Longoria, Rochester, MN.,
Isabelle Witt, Brighton, CO., and Frank Garcia, Colorado Springs, CO. His older brother, Felix Garcia of Tampa, Fl.,
preceded him in death.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 25, at Incarnation Catholic Church, 5124 Gateway Drive, Tampa, Fl. (Hillsborough Avenue @ Halifax Drive).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to Lifepath Hospice, Melech Hospice House,12973 Telecom Parkway, Suite 100, Temple Terrace, FL 33637.
My condolences to all the Garcia family. A truly larger than life man has slipped away to a more peaceful place. He will be missed, but can never be forgotten.
My sympathy goes out to my dear friend Debbie, her sisters and family for the loss of their dear father. He was a wonderful man and I enjoyed knowing him. He will be missed but never forgotten.
