Sophie Servis, 86, of Largo, FL, passed away on February 13, 2014 at Hospice House Woodside under the care of Suncoast Hospice.
Sophie was born in Jersey City, NJ on April 15, 1927. She was one of seven children; 5 boys and 2 girls. Sophie moved to Princeton Junction, NJ as a child and met her future husband, Grover C. Servis, Jr. in the early 1940’s. Having come from a large family, she enjoyed having family gatherings; she also enjoyed sewing, knitting, bingo, and spending quality time with her family.
Grover and Sophie moved to Florida following two of their children in the early 1980’s. She worked as a cafeteria aid at Pinellas Park High School in the early 1990’s and enjoyed being with the students.
She is preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, and her husband of 67 years. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Ferrara of Largo, FL; two sons, John Service of Princeton Junction, NJ and Grover Servis III of Largo, FL; sister, Stephie Andrews of Princeton Junction, NJ; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Graveside services where held at 12:30 PM on Friday, February 21, 2014 AT Florida National Cemetery with Deacon Byron A.. Otrodovec. 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513.
