Stephen E. Blackwelder, 66, of Inverness, passed away on June 18, 2014 at Bay Pines VA Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Sandra and a loving family.
Steven was a member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles and was past president of Aerie 3658 in St. Petersburg and later a member of Aerie 3992 in Inverness. He took enjoyment in participating in fund raisers especially for the women’s auxiliary.
Steve enjoyed camping, boating and fishing, with his family and many friends including his close friend, Udo. Along with his love of the outdoors, Steve loved music and loved playing his guitar with many of his friends in Inverness including BJ, who helped him advance in his knowledge of music. BJ said that Steve was getting so good it was scary. Steve enjoyed playing his guitar anywhere he could and often gave his time to good causes.
Steve was a peaceful man who gave caring advice when asked. His family will find peace in knowing that he will watch over them and guide them.
Sandy,
My prayers go out to you and your family. Steve was a sweet guy and I loved to listen to him play his guitar. I got to listen to him and Jim play together and that was something I will always remember.

My dad is and was the best in this world. I know many people say their dad is but my dad was the greatest. He loved with all he had and anyone could turn to him for anything. He kept the peace. I love and miss him so much. Please dad keep watching over us and guiding us from the big beautiful blue sky. Love always, Kelly your loving daughter
Words can’t describe how good of dad you are and now that your watching over me it gives a better way to guide me threw life like you always have love you dad always and forever your son
Steve was a great, fun, overly-intelligent brother (in-law) to me for close to 36 years. We had a lot of fun together, had many conversations, shared many opinions and was so much like every other Blackwelder. I know you’re chuckling up there as I write this and ask that you find comfort and peace and relay that to Sandy, Sean, Kelly, Dickie, Dad, and Pete that must find solace in knowing that you’re watching them. God bless you, my brother
Just so saddened to hear that Steve has passed. I met him through a Senior Citizens Forum (SCC)and he became a wonderful friend. He helped me through my hubby and daughter’s illnesses and was so very knowledgeable about world history, the military, and yes, even politics where we shared the same interests. I will miss my Emails from him. He is one in a million and will be terribly missed..I feel he is already making beautiful music in heaven and watching over his family that he dearly loved. Sandy and Kelly,
Terri and I sent our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to you and the entire Blackwelder family. I shall miss Steve so very much; his jokes, his wit, his wise advice and most of all his friendship. As you know I have always told him he was the big brother I never had. Now God is clapping his hands and tapping his feet because Steve is playing his music for him.
We will miss our times together like we spent in VA and NOLA.
