Susie A. (Woods) Davis, 74, died on May 12, 2012 at her home in Safety Harbor, Florida, after a long struggle with Diabetes.

Susie was born November 5, 1937, in Gainesville, Florida to Rebecca Filer and Daniel McClellan. She joyfully celebrated her birthday for many years on November 19th, before finding out it actually was on the 5th.  She enjoyed entertaining and traveling, for many years she enjoyed serving people and making them happy with plenty of food and fun, her most memorable entertainment time was Super Bowl Sunday, Halloween costume parties, and her favorite – Christmas Day.

Christmas was her favorite time of year; she would literally light up during Christmas time shopping in the mall. She loved all the Christmas decoration. Each year she would decorate every room in the house with a Christmas tree. Her Christmas ritual was hard on her kids and grandkids. On Christmas morning, with all the presents under the tree everyone was only allowed to open one present on Christmas morning And rest were open after dinner and all pictures taken. Her Favorite Thing was keeping the Christmas tree in perfect condition until the very last minute. Her all -time favorite pass time was Tri-City Shopping (Clearwater, St. Pete, and Tampa) This was all done in one Saturday.

Susie loved being a mother and grandmother to her children, she put her kids first before herself in any situation.
In 1957, Susie married her first husband, Nathaniel Woods (Decease) 1980. Their union, four children were born and raised in Gainesville, FL.

Susie worked as a Social Worker for Sunshine Training Center for many years until she relocated to Clearwater, FL area in 1985.  Susie Relocated to the Clearwater, FL area to work with the Dept of Children and Family Services until her retirement in 2001.

In December 1984, Susie married Solomon Davis, Sr. of Clearwater, FL; they later built their dream home in Safety Harbor, FL where she resided until her death.  Together Susie and Solomon joined Mt Carmel Baptist Church where she served as active member until her illness would not allow active service. She participated in two local social clubs: The Sophisticated Ladies and the Honeymooners.

Susie is survived by her husband Solomon Davis, Sr; 7 sons, Nathaniel Woods Jr., Bernard Woods, St. Petersburg area, Gregory Woods, Gainesville, FL, Solomon Davis Jr, Clearwater, Lorenzo Ray (Charlene) Davis and children of St. Petersburg, FL, Anthony Davis, Detroit, MI, and Terrence Davis, Largo, FL; 2 daughters, Angelia Scott, Winter Garden FL, Lillian Davis, Hudson, FL; 4 granddaughters, Raylyn, Ebony, Kenya and Leah; 4 grandsons, Bernard, Torrey, D.J. , and Lorenzo Jr. ; 2 brothers: Will (Emily) and William Simmons (and “Butch”, deceased); 3 sisters: Helen Parks, Gail (Phil) Daniels, Jackie Simons of Daytona Beach, FL area.  A host of nieces, nephews, Aunts and uncles, a number of other relatives and close friends.

Visitation will be at 10 AM, followed by a celebration at 11 AM on Saturday, May 19th at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1012 Pennsylvania Avenue, Clearwater 33755.  Graveside Interment will be at 11 am on Monday, May 21st at Florida National Cemetery in 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513. (Exit 309, off I-75)
