Veterans Funeral Care Terence "Terry" Gregory

Terence Edward Gregory, known as Terry, went to be with our Lord on March 23, 2010 at Baldomero Lopez Veteran’s Nursing Home in Land O’ Lakes Florida. Terry was born on February 17, 1940 in Wimbledon England to Florence and Edward Gregory. At the age of nineteen he enlisted in the US Army and served his country proudly protecting the Panama Canal. After his service was complete he was honorably discharged. His main occupation after his discharge was airfreight manager for numerous companies. Terry loved to fish, especially on boats. He used to take his son fishing on a drift boat when he lived in Southern Florida. He was an avid bowler and won several competitions in California and Florida. He enjoyed the laid back life watching football on Sundays; it’s known that the Miami Dolphins was his favorite team. Another thing that was widely known is he would eat anything that was cooked for him. He volunteered at CWT working with homeless veterans coaching them to learn new skills in order to improve their lives. While volunteering he learned how to do embroidery, which became a full time hobby. While volunteering at Metropolitan Ministry, in 1998, he met Victoria Phillips and they married on August 19, 1999. They started an embroidery business called Vic-ter enterprise in 2000. The business main focus was to make shirts and hats for the Veteran’s Hospitals and government offices, anything do to with the veteran’s they would do the embroidery. Terry and Vicky successfully ran the business till his stroke in 2003, which left him paralyzed on his left side of his body. With the help of his wife he was able to re-learn the basics of walking and building up the muscles in his legs. Eventually he was able to walk unassisted with the help of single brace and a quad cane. Due to illness he was admitted into Baldomero Lopez Veteran Nursing Home. As a resident, he was elected president of the Resident Council for two terms. As president, he oversaw many projects such as working with a local Boy Scout troop and American Legion Post to build a covered area to allow the veterans a place to sit outside to enjoy Florida’s lovely sunshine. Working with Sue Pointer, he contacted the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post to obtain items such as clothing, arts and crafts, and entertainment for the for the veterans. Terry will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the staff at Baldomero Lopez Veteran Nursing Home.
