Vincent Rizzo, Jr., 60, of Madeira Beach, Florida, passed on October 4, 2008 at his residence under the loving care of his family and The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 17, 1948, the son of Vincent, Sr. and Bernadette Prestigiacomo Rizzo. Vincent enlisted in the US Army at the age of 17, and served with the 173rd Airborne in Vietnam where he lost his leg from "friendly fire". He became a true hero, and was a strong person, devoted husband, and an amazing father. He was a hero at heart-carpenter by trade, building beautiful wood creations and always provided a helping hand to all. Now his soul is free in Heaven. He is survived by his wonderful and devoted wife, Francine Rizzo; his daughter, Jamie Ormston, and her husband, Mark; his sons: Robert Rizzo, and his wife Amanda, and Salvatore Rizzo, and his wife, Stephanie; his four granddaughters: Brooklyn, Genesis, Mia Bella, and Kamryn; his caring mother, Betty Rizzo; his devoted sister, Cynthia Raia, and husband, Denis; and his wonderful brother, Philip Rizzo, and his wife, Anna. Our heartfelt thanks to The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast for their comfort during our most difficult time. Arrangements entrusted to Veterans Funeral Care, 15381 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, Florida 33760

My father Vincent, as we all know him as Vinnie. His is our hero and many others as well.My dad had a big heart and a strong heart to. my father enlisted in the US Army and became 173rd airborne in 1967. He became a hero when he fought for our country in the vietnam war, where he lost he leg to friendly fire at age 18. He was awarded a purple heart on two different occaisions. After that my fathers life became difficult as many other vetrens lives had. Due to the war he went through many tragic experiences. After all that he picked himself up and became a devoted husband to my mom Francine, and had three children. My two older brothers Robert and Salvatore and myself,Jamie. As we all know he was a hero at heart Carpenter by trade. he made beautiful wood creations. Always lent out his helping hand and was the local handy man. he had many months, days, and hours of suffering now we all must not worry because he took his last breath on earth and first breath in heaven, where he is in his perfect form. My Father Vinnie always said never to say good bye because it was bye for good so like my dad always said “so Long” So, So long dad I love You we all love you and we will be reunited before you ever knew we were apart. He will be missed dearly by so many.
