Virginia DeForest Boynton, 90, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014 in Lecanto, FL under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast http://www.hospiceofcitrus.org/ .
Born in Olean, NY, Virginia moved to Florida from Cuba, NY in 1976. She sold real estate in St. Petersburg for many years, and was an active member of the Lions Club. She liked flower arranging and was an excellent seamstress. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Myrtle (Miller) DeForest; husband, William; and son, James. Survivors include her son, Joseph; two daughters, Jacqueline Gamble and Janet Corrin; seven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 30, 2014 at St. Mary Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 515 4th Street South, St. Petersburg 33701 http://www.stmaryolg.org/. Interment will follow at 2:15 PM at Bay Pines National Cemetery.

Virginia was a good friend, and we worked with her as board members in our neighborhood for many years in St. Petersburg. She was wise and an all-around nice person. Her family must have wonderful memories of her life with them too.

I hope that she had a good 90 years, and stayed active and vibrant.

I have many fond memories of Virginia. She welcomed me into her home when I came for a visit on my first trip to Florida. I know her family was very important to her and she will be sorely missed by them. My thoughts and prayers are with all family and friends during this difficult time.
