Walter Carlos Estrada, 88 of Riverdale, NY, died August 26, 2013. Walter Estrada, son of Angel Estrada and Evelyn Villani, passed away on August 26th at his home in Clearwater, FL. He is survived by his wife, Mary, and his three children Ronald, Patricia and Walter. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
He retired from a long and prosperous career in sales, first in insurance with Prudential Insurance Company and then followed by several national sales manager/vice president positions with prominent flavor and fragrance companies traveling the United States calling on major accounts in the food, candy, beverage and tobacco industries.
Prior to his work career, Walter served in the Army from 1943 to 1946. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. After his honorable discharge, he continued to serve for 3 more years in Ground Force Reserves and 3 years in Air Force Reserves.
Walter’s interests and hobbies included a love of big band music, swing dancing, politics, and computers. He was an ardent supporter of our veterans and making his voice heard to our senators and congressman to improve veterans’ benefits.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Services will be held Tuesday, September 10th at 10:00 am at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., St. Petersburg, FL.
I knew Mr. Estrada thru his wife Mary, daughter-Pat and son Walter when we all worked at Burdines, at what originally was The Clearwater Mall.
My sincere condolences to you all and extended family. He will truly be missed. I remember him as a very warm, funny, ’quiet’ man who also presented a strength that everyone respected.
