Walter T. Hoffman, 59, of Clearwater, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at the Bay Pines VA Medical Center in Bay Pines, FL. Walter was born in Jamaica, NY and moved here 1988 from Bridgewater, NY.
Walter served his country in the US Navy and was a Motor Coach Operator for ESCOT Bus Lines for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post # 400. He was very patriotic and loved anything that had to do with eagles and flags. He loved to cook, work in the garden and was funny and generous.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas and Anna May Hoffman; his son, Walter Jr.; his brother, James; and his sister, Lisa. He is survived by his wife, Georgiann; his daughter, Regina Wells and her husband, Jay of Port Richey, FL; brothers, Paul of New York, Joel of Texas, and David of Pennsylvania; and, grandchildren, Quinton, Johnathin and Walter III.
Memorial services will be held for Bay Pines National Cemetery on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at 3:00PM. Military Honors will be presented by American Legion Post # 273 and the United States Navy Honors & Ceremony Team.

Dad, I miss you soo much in the words you spoke and the love you showed us. Your grandson Johnathin admires and loves you so much and did a 10 miles bike ride today 10162013 dedicated to you. You were a true blessing to my other children Noah and Ethan who miss and ask about you all the time but are too young to understand. I got to know Walter when I worked with him at Escott Bus Lines and he became the best friend I ever had there.He was always there if anyone ever needed help or directions to any place you had never been and best way to get there.When we would go North during the summer for our jobs it was a great honor to have you as a roomate and you always had a funny joke or story to share with me.You will be missed my friend by me and every one that had the Honor to know you.Good by my friend and rest in peace.

Dad, Not everyone was so blessed as to have a father who would do anything and everything for their child, but I was. If I ever needed help or advise or just to talk you were there. There were times you would work three jobs at a time to take care of your family. There isn’t anything you wouldn’t do to make sure your children were cared for. If I were hurt either physically or emotionally I always wanted my Daddy and I think I always will. Each day I wake up my heart breaks all over again because I know I can’t call you and hear your voice. I will remember you as the amazing and wonderful father you always were, and you will be missed. Walter “QUACKED” me up in a great way,the first day I met Walter at Escot Bus lines, he and I shared a very personal and heartwarming conversation, it wasn’t just about talking AFLAC Insurance but personal stories, family things etc. From that day Walter wasn’t just a “client” he became my friend, he would call me on the road when traveling just to chat, to tell me how much he loved driving me on the other hand could tell him stories on how I de-tested being on the road, he would laugh and at times we often talked over an hour and it made my drive so much better. He always gave me good advice, he was sincerely interested in my business always passing along referrals, he became so good at my business that he was “perfect” when it came time to file a claim he was getting to be one step ahead of me. He even took the time to write a letter to CORP AFLAC on my behalf, he shared what a good friendship we had, it was a mutal feeling. I have got to know Mrs. Hoffman thru time, some laughs, some tears but in all sincerity I felt a connection with his family, Gina, we have yet to meet and we will soon know that your Dad Walter spoke volumes about you every time we talked,God Bless you and your family and Mrs. Hoffman we will always stay in touch.I was proud to have know Walter it was my honor.

I was saddened to learn today of Walter’s passing. I know he fought a long hard battle but finally now he is free from pain and being ill. Nothing can take away the pain the family is feeling but I pray it helps to know he was loved and will be remembered with a smile. I met Walter while we both worked for Escot and kept up with him through mutual friends that still work there. My sincerest sympathy.
