Wayne H. Perkins, 72, died August 25, 2008 at the Bay Pines Hospital. He is a retired St. Petersburg firefighter, and was the inventor of the “Perk Pack” that is utilized by fire departments. Wayne served in the US Coast Guard and was a member of American Legion Post 273, Elks Holiday Isles Lodge 1915, and the Wyoming Antelope Club. He is survived by his wife Carlene; two children: Robin Lavigne and Eric Perkins, both of St. Petersburg; two step-children: Steven Labrecque of Porter, Me. and Michelle Chute of Brentwood, NH; and three grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, “Skip”. Services will be at 10am on Sept. 5 from Bay Pines National Cemetery, and donations may be made to St. Petersburg College Foundation for the Wayne H. Perkins Memorial Scholarship Memorial Fund.

In 1972-1973 my family lived next door to the Perkins family on Monroe Circle, I remember him taking us for rides on his motorcycle and watching ’Emergency’ and ’CHIPS’ on the we he seemed like a good father,,, our father passed away Aug. 31 2008, and we just had his service yesterday . we remembered your family and my brother mike and I remember your family fondly.
