Fulton, Wayne L., 83, of Clearwater Beach, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2011 at Tierra Pines Nursing Center under the care of Suncoast Hospice. He fought through prostate, face and neck cancer, chemo and radiation therapy. During his latter years, he suffered from dementia.
Born on March 9, 1928 on his grandfather’s homestead in Clear Lake, SD, he married his one true love Evelyn Ann Mathes on June 15, 1951 at Walnut Street Baptist Church in Waterloo, IA. They retired to Clearwater Beach from Rockford, IL in 1992. Wayne proudly served with the US Marine Corps attached to the Air Force during WWII earning the rank of Private First Class. He worked as a Design Engineer for 38 years with Viking Pump Co., Ingersoll Milling Machine Co., and W.A. Whitney where he received several patents for his machine designs. He was a serious-minded, no nonsense person who enjoyed traveling for work and pleasure worldwide. He found joy in reading his Bible and attending worship services. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks. He was a devoted husband and proud father and grandfather.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Cecil and David, and sister, Nora Harper. Survivors include his wife, “Evie”; four sons: Tim of Clearwater, FL, Tom (Dr. Barbara) of Grand Rapids, MI, Ted of Norfolk, VA, Todd (Vickie) of Mahomet, IL; two daughters: Tamara (Dusan) Djuric of Rockford, IL and Talea Allen-Miyongo of Marietta, GA; brother, Virgil (Mary Ann) of Faribault, MN; ten grandchildren: Elizabeth, Joanna, and Kelly Marie Fulton, Hannah (Donnie) Barnes, Emily (Ben) Smith, Kristifor, Stefanie and Natalie Djuric, Alisha and Jennifer Allen; and two great granddaughters, Ameera Hawthorne and Mako Mewbourne.
He is loved and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, October, 22, 2011 at First Baptist Church at Indian Rocks, 12685 Ulmerton Road, Largo 33774. The family requests no flower donations.
