Wilford R. Turner Wil 71, of Odessa FL passed away on May 12, 2008 following a long illness. Wil was born in Arkansas, was an Episcopalian, a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War Era, he moved to the Tampa area in 1996 from Jeannette, PA. He began his career at Republic Steel in Chicago IL, and then went on to H.M. Harper of Morton Grove, IL where he became the youngest superintendent of a steel mill at that time. He moved to Pittsburgh, PA and worked in Sales for Pickands Mather before becoming employed by Hockensmith Corp. in Jeannette, PA where he became President and CEO. Wil also served as President of Blaw-Knox Steel & Bridge Division of Pittsburgh, PA. In 1987, he founded his own business Turner Sales Inc. In 1985 he was elected Chairman of the Electric Furnace Division of the Iron and Steel Society. Wil was an avid Golfer; he once made 2 “Holes in One” in the same round at Greensburg Country Club in PA. In FL he belonged to Cypress Run G. C. and enjoyed golfing daily until his illness in 2004. Wil is survived by his loving wife of 47 yrs, Judith; 2 daughters April Leasure of Clearwater & Jody Davis & husband Bart of Lynchburg, VA; 3 Granddaughters Autumn Leasure, Sydney & Samantha Davis; 1 Great Grandson Turner Leasure. He is also survived by his Mother Marie Turner & his brother William of Casa, AR. A private service is being planned.
