William Angelo Toigo, 86, funeral service is 7:00 PM, Saturday, January 26, 2013 at St Cecelia Catholic Church, 820 Jasmin Way, Clearwater, FL 33756 with full military honors at the conclusion of the funeral service provided by the United States Navy.
 
William was the son of Mose’ and Edna Toigo of Springfield, Illinois and passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013 at his home in Clearwater.
 
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie Ann Craven and a son, William A. “Billy” Toigo. He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Esther Cozza Toigo; his sister, Bess Bentler of Springfield, IL; son, Mark Toigo and his wife, Mary of Lake City, FL; daughter, Denice Riley and her husband, Garry of Clearwater, FL; a daughter, Michelle Siegrist of Clearwater, FL; daughter, Cindy Brittin and her husband, Jim of Clearwater, FL; daughter, Marguerite “Peggy” Toigo of Gainesville, FL; son, Jon W. Toigo and his wife, Margaret of Dunedin, FL; son, Dante W. Toigo and his wife, Julet of Brandon, MS; daughter, Martine “Tina” Ward and her husband, Tab of Clearwater, FL; daughter, Bess “Missy” Toigo-Garrett of Clearwater, FL and a daughter, Jennifer Rourk and her husband, Robert of Abilene, TX. He is also survived by 39 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.

  William Angelo Toigo was born in Springfield, Illinois on May 3, 1926. He was a 1944 graduate of Lanphier High School. Throughout his high school career, he was involved in basketball and music. He was a proud World War II veteran; serving in the US Navy from 1944 thru 1946. While attending boot camp training at the Great Lakes Naval Station, he was selected to sing in the Navy Choir under the direction of Chief Navy Choir Director Cosmo Pasa Terri. He served on the USS Wolverine, USS Charger (CVE 30); USS Antietam (CV 36) as part of the catapult crew and USS Shangri La. William was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus and was retired CLU in the insurance industry.

He was known as a loving father, a tenaciously hard worker and an accomplished accordion player. He was a proud fan of Norte Dame “Fighting Irish” football and “One Armed Bandit!”. 

His proudest accomplishment was his loving family. 

Rest well in the light of God’s grace William, until we can be reunited!
