William Dennis Cairns, 74, of St Petersburg, Florida was born April 18, 1939 and passed away peacefully on January 5, 2014.
A Graveside Service to honor him will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, Florida 33744 with the Pinellas County Honor Guard providing full military honors. The family requests that friends arrive at the cemetery 30 minutes prior to the service time.
Bill was a native of Detroit, Michigan and a local resident of St. Petersburg, Florida since 1976, when he moved here from the Detroit area. Bill served in the US Army as a Combat Engineer and was awarded a Sharpshooter Badge. While serving his Country in the Armed Forces, Bill was stationed in Germany where he met his wife, Ursula. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ursula Cairns of St Petersburg, FL; a son, William “Burt” Cairns of St Petersburg, FL; a daughter, Donna Monette of Oldsmar, FL and three grandchildren: Christopher, Daniel and Christina Caronongan and is preceded in death by his parents, William and Lena Cairns and his granddaughter, Whitney Shae Cairns. A Salesman by trade, Bill loved spending his time at both Derby Lane and Tampa Bay Downs where he had many friends. In lieu of flowers Bill’s family requests that donations be made to Suncoast Hospice South Pinellas Care Center Bayfront (727.586.4432) who provided dignity, care and comfort to him in his final days. I’m so sorry for your loss, Bill, will always be in our hearts. Could someone please let Rose know we were her neighbors in Detroit and that we now reside in St Petersburg Fl.
