William P. Engel, 60, of Treasure Island, FL died at the Bay Pines VA Medical Center, Bay Pines, FL on July 1, 2008 from natural causes. A native of Scranton, PA and a local resident since 1999, when he moved here from Grand Island, NY; he was a Military man serving in the United States Marine Corps; a Christian and a Vietnam War Veteran. He was the past commander of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 4256 and received a Purple Heart. Preceded in death by his father, William, Bill is survived by his loving family: a mother, Alice Engel of Kenmore, NY; his companion and care giver, Peggy Henning of Treasure Island, FL; a brother, Bruce Engel and his wife, Betty of Clarence, NY; three sisters; Bonnie Cehek and her husband, Alan and Betty Carol Engel, all of Tonawanda, NY; Karen Knight of York, Pa and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family request, that in lieu of flowers, to please make a donation to VFW Post 4256 in the memory of William P. Engel.

Bill, may you rest in peace. You were a great friend and VFW Commander. We will miss you. I enjoyed meeting your Brother and Sisters at the Bay Pines service on July 18, 2008. I was privileged to be the acting VFW Chaplain at your final resting place.
