Veterans Funeral Care Willis Plummer

CWO-2 Willis Richard Plummer died peacefully in his home in Largo, FL on October 9, 2008. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1922. He was in the Navy from 1942 – 1963 and served in WW2. He was awarded a silver star for engaging in 5 campaigns on the carrier Sargeant Bay, including Iwo Jima, and later served on the carrier USS Roosevelt. After his retirement from the Navy, he worked for 6 years at Collins Radio in Texas on the space program. He moved to Florida in 1969, and worked for PTEC as an instructor for 13 years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dot, 2 daughters, Courtney Browning and Melody Cassidy, 4 grandchildren, Michael wife Ann, Shannon, Ross, and Luke, and 2 great grandchildren. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at the Sugar Creek Clubhouse 10265 Ulmerton Rd, Largo at 3 pm on Sunday, Oct 12. Military honors will be conducted.
