Yvonne Carter Wilson, 79, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on June 15, 2013. She was born on August 20, 1933, in Neafus, KY, to Rosson and Geneva Carter. She came to St. Petersburg in 1997 from Louisville, KY. She was the Controller & Treasurer for Martin L. Adams & Son in Louisville for 20 years. She was a member of Island Chapel in St. Petersburg, and had been a member of Cooper Memorial Methodist Church in Louisville.
Her husband, Blemmer Wilson, precedes Yvonne in death. She is survived by her brother Roy (Brenda) Carter; Smithfield, KY, her niece Tina Chick, Jacksonville, FL, nephew, Todd Carter, Smithfield, KY and her lifelong friends, Charlotte Elise Wright, Crestwood, KY & Scott Skinner of Ft Myers, FL and several other nieces & nephews.
There are two ceremonies, in St. Petersburg (Tierra Verde) Florida; a memorial service, June 24th at Island Chapel at 11:00am. In Louisville, friends will be received at 9:00am Wednesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd, Louisville, KY. Funeral services will begin at 11am. She will be buried in the Neafus Cemetery, Caneyville, KY with her husband Blemmer. Contributions can be made in her memory to Island Chapel, 1271 Pinellas Bayway, St. Petersburg, FL 33715.

You were so much fun to be around. It’s no wonder you had so many friends. It was a blessing to see so many people I did not know come and see you in the hospital. And they all said the same thing, “Vonn is a sweetie.” We will miss you but you are in heaven with our savior.
Yvonne was such a fun person with a great sense of humor. I loved having her in my Mah Jongg class for so many years. I loved her smile. I’ll never forget the day she and patty came to a luncheon wearing a big red pair of pants, Yvonne in one leg and Patty in the other. I’m so glad I was able to see her and give her a big hug just before she went in the hospital. She looked at me and winked and I knew it was good bye. Everytime I have fried oysters I’ll think of her.
Thank you Yvonne for some many years of a faithful friendship. You were a lot of fun to be around! To her family and friends our deepest condolences. We will keep all of you in our prayers.
