Witkin, Zelig “Zeke”, 2/8/1927 – 5/14/2014, 87, “Friend Of Many”
Zeke, 87 of New Port Richey, FL, formerly of Long Island, NY, was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and passed away at HPH Hospice in New Port Richey.
Zeke graduated from New York University in 1952 and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was employed for 38 years by Grumman Aerospace Corp as an Aeronautical Engineer. Zeke was a volunteer at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, LI, NY from 1991-1996 where he met his wife Carol. He was also an active volunteer at Trinity Outpatient Center in New Port Richey for 15 years and at Suncoast Hospice.
Left to cherish his memory along with many wonderful friends are his wife of 18 years, Carol Ann Witkin; brother, Ed (Joanne) Witkin of CT; son, BJ (Karen) Witkin of NC; three stepdaughters, Sheryle Browne of NC, Patrice (Michael) Baldwin of FL, and Pamela (William) Moyka of NY; and 8 grandchildren: Katie Mae, Frances, Nicolas, Michael, Alexander, Matthew, Ryan, and Kaitlyn.
Zeke will always be remembered by his love for family, friends and furry friends, his passion for baseball, reading and history, wonderful sense of humor, great appetite for all things delicious, his generosity, spirit and determination.
A graveside service with military honors will be presented at 10:45 AM on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., 33744. We are saddened by Zeke’s passing. We will miss his infectious smile. Prayers that he found peace and comfort. Hugs from NY to you all!!!
