Pastor Albert Eugene Sloan, 82, of Plant City, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at Tampa General Hospital. He was born in Greenville, South Carolina and moved to Florida in 1972 from Illinois. He served his country in the United States Air Force.
He was a pastor for over 64 years and was affiliated with the Church of God. He founded the Rock of Ages Church in Tampa, Florida. While he was a fan of sports and cars, the family has indicated that his real hobby was “God”. He loved to praying, studying and preaching the Word of God. His passion was to see lives changed by the redeeming power of the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Nettie Sloan; his son, Gene Jr.; and his brother Ed. He is survived by his son, CJ and his wife Cathy; daughter, Wanda, sister, Dorothy Wske; daughter-in-law, Angel; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many friends.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 6:00PM on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at the Bartow Church of God. The location is 1460 East Stuart, Bartow, Florida, 33830.
A graveside service, with Military Honors, has been scheduled for 11:00AM on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL, 33563.
