Aloma Alford, 88, entered her eternal home on Tuesday August 23 at her home with family nearby
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who is survived by her children, Grant (Julia) Alford, Holly (Jordan) King, and Scott Alford, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, as well as her brother Paul Saltzman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Charles Alford. Rev. Alford and Aloma were long-time residents of Palm Harbor, Florida. She was a long-time federal government employee, but her true identity was found in being a follower of Christ and being a pastor’s wife to Charles. They pastored congregations in Louisiana, Colorado, Arizona, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Alabama and Florida.
There will be a celebration of her life at Bayside Community Church in Safety Harbor (3380 FL-580, Safety Harbor, FL 34695) at 11:00 AM on Saturday August 27, 2016.
My family and I are so sorry to hear of the passing of our dear sister Aloma. We remember the wonderful times that we had in Tucson when Grant, Holly and Scott were little children. Pastor Alford gave me my first chance at directing a choir and leading congregational music and I will never forget the chorus book that he, Aloma and I put together for the Tucson First Church of God. I still have a couple of copies. My sympathy to the family and especially Grant, Holly and Scott as well as Paul Saltzman, who gave me my first chance at acting. She was the first lady of a truly remarkable family who will be missed by all of us who knew her and loved her. Prayers and respect to all of you.
We have lost another pillar of the Alford family, the last of that wonderful generation. Uncle Haskell imparted so much love, faith, and just goodness to us all and right beside him in every way was Aunt Aloma. Although she had difficulties since his death, she remained determined to carry on in the level of faith that exemplified their life.
She always wanted to “catch up” with family to hear the latest of our children and grandchildren with such interest. She has definitely fought the good fight and now shall rest in peace with her dearly departed and God the Father. Memory Eternal.
My dearest sympathy to her children and grandchildren.
