Amil Edward Rose Jr., 96 of Barrington, Illinois, entered peacefully in his sleep into eternal life on March 17, 2022. Born December 10, 1925 in Charleston, WV. He leaves behind the love of his life and best friend, his wife of 64 years, Loraine Elizabeth (Jacobs) Rose, a loving family and friends who will forever miss him.
Amil was a World War II Veteran. At the age of 19 Amil joined the Army. His rank was Corporal in the 114th Army Airway Communication System Squadron in the United States Army. Amil served in Africa as a Radio Operator. He received the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, and the World War II Victory Ribbon. Both his father and he loved serving their country and talked about this throughout their lives. In retirement years he was a clerk for the Hillsborough County Election Board.
After the war ended, he was Honorably Discharged and he went on to study at George Washington University in Washington, DC., graduating with a Bachelor’s in Government and Accounting. He was Payroll Supervisor with Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America in Chicago, Illinois for 37 years. Amil and Loraine would meet in 1955 in the Civic Opera Building in Chicago and married June 1 , 1957 in Tampa, FL. They returned to Chicago and began the next wonderful 64 years of marriage and family life.
Throughout Amil’s life his passions were fishing, hunting, cycling, gardening, taking care of his lawn, and pool. In his retirement years in Tampa, he would be found on his boat in Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico fishing with friends and family. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was a kind, patient, giving, loving son, brother, uncle, husband, father, and grandfather. His devotion to his family was complete, always teaching, leading, and loving by example.
He was a great neighbor and friend always giving whenever needed. His was always happy, easy going, his humor was infectious and so fun to be around. He demonstrated his faith and philosophy not with words, but through actions and service to others. While he has been called to Heaven, he will be profoundly missed on this earth. He is loved deeply, and his important legacy will live through his family and friends. Amil was preceded in death by parents, Amil Edward Rose, Sr & Lillian Mae (Hamilton) Rose and his sister, Lorraine Hope (Rose) Mann. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Loraine Elizabeth (Jacobs) Rose; son, Amil Edward Rose III (Linda Magnussen); daughter Kathleen Ann Rose (Michael) Dunham; daughter Susan Marie Rose (late Clay B.) Nixon, Jr. Five grandchildren: Benjamin(Kaitlyn) Dunham; Ethan Amil Dunham; Monica, Phillip and Stephanie Nixon (fiancée Brandon).
Services and Ceremony are being arranged by Veterans Funeral Care Belcher Rd, Clearwater, Florida on FRIDAY, APRIL 8, 2022, at 10:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at 2:00. Military Honors will be rendered by the US Army Funeral Honors Team.

Lloraine, I am so sorry to read of your husband’s passing. I know he will be missed. I met him a couple of times during various events with our genealogy society. I wish I could have been there for the services but I only found out after the fact. You were so kind to attend my mother’s funeral and the meal afterwards at my house.
