Anna “Ann” Teresa Lenore DiStasio Schreiber, 82, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015 under the care of Suncoast Hospice.
Ann will be remembered by her family for her kind and loving heart, her quick wit and sense of humor, and her strong will and determination. She loved cooking and caring for her family and friends. Her Christmas open house was legend, as friends and family were welcome from 11:00 am to midnight daily for two weeks. Ann always had a pot of sauce, home made pastas, and a table brimming with food for all those who stopped by to share the Holidays.
Ann worked hard all her life and always found time to lend a hand to whoever needed help. While working in a doctors’ office as a receptionist and handling the billing, Ann learned that one of the patients needed surgery, but could not afford it. So, she took it upon herself to quietly start a campaign that went to the evening news, where monies were donated to the patient to have the surgery. The gentleman who had the surgery never knew it was Ann that helped. Her other acts of kindness were recognized by the Beta Sigma Phi Women’s Sorority, who named her their “Woman of the Year”.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, in 2007. Survivors include her two daughters, Pauline (David) Ferris of Miami, FL, Marilyn (Bill) TenBrink of Traverse City, MI, and her son, Stuart Schreiber of Los Angeles, CA. She will be dearly missed.
