Anna Theodora Potter


Anna T. Potter of Largo, Florida entered peacefully into eternal rest on January 21st, 2020.  She was 83.   Born in Cairo, Egypt on March 1st, 1936 she was the daughter of the late George Garifallou and Evlambia Rota.  She later met a gentleman named Francis C. Potter, a US Navy veteran, whom she married in Asmara, Ethiopia on May 22, 1965.  They shared a wonderful 54 years of marriage.

Anna worked as a clerk in the education system for many years.  Having family roots in Europe, Anna has lived in several parts of the world over the years including Egypt, Lebanon, Greece, Ethiopia, Maryland, New York and Florida.  She also enjoyed being at the beach, boating, jet-skiing, sewing and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Evlambia Garifallou, and grandson Craig Potter.

Anna leaves behind her beloved husband Frank Potter; sisters Lula Romei, Vasilia Barone, and Diane Holland; sons John & Peter (Mary Elizabeth) Potter; grandsons Peter II, Michael , and Christopher (Manwella) Potter; and great-grandsons Bradly and Alessio  along with so many friends who love her and will always miss her.

Funeral Services and Arrangements have been entrusted to Veterans Funeral Care in Clearwater, Florida.   Services and Ceremonies will take place on Tuesday January 28th, 2020.  Funeral Mass is at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church (409 S. Old Coachman Rd,  Clearwater, FL) beginning at 11:00am.  Father James T. Paris will officiate.  Anna will be placed at rest in Florida National Cemetery (Bushnell, Florida) at 2:30pm.

In lieu of flowers the Potter family is encouraging gifts of support be directed to Suncoast Hospice / Empath Health,  whose caring compassionate staff helped comfort Anna and family during those toughest times.
