Barbara L. Lincoln was born on May 23, 1926 in Concord, NH, the only child of Albert and Doris Bacheleder. She spent her childhood in Bradford, NH until 16 years old, They moved to Boston, MA in 1942 as her Dad was stationed in the US Navy. She graduated from Girl’s High School in Boston in 1944. She then moved to New Hyde Park, Long Island , NY. In 1944, Barbara joined the U.S Cadet Nurse Corps, where she attended Lenox Hill Hospital of Nursing in New York City and graduated as a RN in 1947. She then attended St John’s University in Brooklyn and received her certification as a Public Health Nurse. She worked in many fields of nursing. In 1967, she attended NY State University at Oneonta, where she received her School-Nurse Teacher Degree. In 1978, she received her certification as a nurse Practitioner from at Stonybrook. In 1979, she received her B.S. at NY State University, Empire College. Barbara worked as a nurse-teacher in Huntington, Long Island, NY from 1967 until retiring in 1979.
She married Donald Pantke on June 3, 1949 where they bought a new house and lived in Levittown NY until he passed away in March 1962. They had three children: Karen, Wayne and James. She hen married Judson on November 23, 1967. He had 4 children: Anna Sue, Judson Jr., Cynthia and Sally. They all lived together in Commack, NY. In 1969, the house burned down and they had it totally rebuild. She and Judson retired in 1979 and moved to Inverness, Florida. As her husband, Judson, was a retired military, they traveled the world, Space Available and had a wonderful time. They were active in the Community.
Barbara was active in both the Boy and Girl Scouts program. She was a officer in the Amarynth in Smithtown, NY. She was past President of the Noble Ladies of the Shrine; past President of the Military Officer’s wives club and President of the Lake Tsala Gardens Community Chub. Barbara was very active in the First Christian Church of Inverness, Florida.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Pantke and Judson Lincoln; her parents, Albert and Doris Bacheleder and step daughter, Anna Sue. She is survived by 3 children: Karen, Wayne and James and three step-children: Judson, Jr., Cynthia and Sally; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She leaves a wonderful family!
Barbara Lincoln service is Wednesday, March 1, 2023 @ 10:00 AM at the 1st Christian Church, 2018 Colonade Street, Inverness, Florida with Pastor Tom Thomas, to officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 AM until service time. Burial will be 1:30 PM, March 3, 2023 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL.
Barbara was one of the favorite members of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) Citrus County Chapter. Her presence at meetings with our members will be sorely missed. Her military background was honored in Citrus County many times and she left a legacy of service to her Lord, family and country. Our profound condolences to her family members.
