Betty Beattie, 99, of Safety Harbor, FL, formerly of Salamanca, NY, took the hand of her Lord on Saturday, December 19, 2020 under the care of Hospice. Born December 3, 1921 in Salamanca, she was the daughter of the late John and Henrietta Schaefer Hartman.
On September 29, 1945, she married Jack Beattie, Sr, who predeceased her in 2003. Surviving are 4 children; Jack Jr, Jud (Elaine), both of Salamanca, NY, Jody of Safety Harbor, FL and Steve (Penny) of Great Valley, NY, 6 grandchildren; Tammy Beattie of Casselberry, FL, Danielle Beattie (Scott Dille) , Douglas Beattie both of Salamanca, NY, Olivia (Zack) Scott, Charlotte, NC, Sydnie (Tanner John) Beattie, Great Valley, NY, Tadd Beattie, Schenectady, NY, 4 step grandchildren; Nicole (James) Line, Patricia (Shawn) Lucas of Smethport, PA, Alison (David) Roae, Olean NY, Daniel (Amber) Lawrence, Pasadena, MD, 7 great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her sister Mary (Meme) Hartman and great grandson Nicholas Dille-Beattie in 2005.
Betty was a graduate of Salamanca High School and Bryant and Stratton Business College. She was employed as a bookkeeper for the law firm Penny&Penny in Buffalo, NY until her marriage. As her children grew older she opened, owned and operated the Louise Dress Shop in Salamanca until her retirement when Jack and Betty spent time between Salamanca and Florida.
Betty was an avid dog lover and never met a dog she did not love and who did not love her. She was a member of Northwood Presbyterian Church in Clearwater, FL and a former member of The United Church of Christ in Salamanca. She was also a former member of Genetaska, Zonta and Elkdale Country Club.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Veterans Funeral Care in Clearwater, FL. Due to current health concerns, there will be no visitation or service, however a Celebration of Life will be held at a time to be determined.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Florida Suncoast, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd,Clearwater, FL 33760, Salamanca Historical Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.

My heart goes out to you and your family Jody. I know you are all heartbroken to lose such a beautiful, loving mother. I broke down in tears seeing her picture with little Tiki. I remember finding her for your mom & it was love at first sight. She loved her so much. They rescued each other. I’m so sorry for your loss Jody.
