Bruce Marvin Carson was born July 2, 1943 in Oneanta, New York.  The son of the late George Richard Carson and Eloisa Taylor Carson both from New York.  Survived by older brother Richard Harvey Carson of New York and older sister Margery Ruth Rifenburgh of Florida.  He passed away November 9th, 2018 at his residence in Largo, Florida.  Bruce graduated from South Kortright Central School in South Kortright, New York in 1963.  He ran track, was a member of the drama club, projection club, and the yearbook staff.  He was given the nickname “Brute” by his classmates.

After a short stint in the workforce, he enlisted into the Air Force in 1965 where he would spend the next 20 years.  His job in the military was a Construction Equipment Technician.  While in the military he received several noteworthy awards:  he was given the “Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon”, “The NCO Professional Military Leadership Education Ribbon”, “Air Force Longevity Service Award”, “The National Defense Service Medal”. “Vietnam Service Medal”, “Air Force Outstanding Unit Award”, “Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal”, “Air Force Good Conduct Medal”, and the  “Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon”. His time in the military also led him to many different places having been in Vietnam, Korea, and the Philippines.  He actually served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.  He was stationed at several different places during his career including Myrtle Beach AFB, South Carolina, Randolph AFB San Antonio, Texas, Clark AFB, Philippines, and finally settled in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area in 1995 after retiring as a Tech Sergeant.

After 20 years of proudly serving in the United States Air Force, he went on to worked at Isla Del Sol golf Course as an irrigation technician where he was in charge of maintaining the grounds and the irrigation system for the entire golf course.  After 10 years at Isla Del Sol, he began working for Jabil Circuits of St. Petersburg, Florida as a Maintenance worker.  He would spend another 9 years at Jabil until his full retirement.   He was always known for being dependable, hard-working, trustworthy, and proficient at his jobs.  He was left in charge and often put in a supervisory position as his managers knew they could trust him to get the job done.

Not only was Bruce trustworthy and hardworking, he was known as being selfless and very generous.  Many people relied on Bruce’s generosity and counted on him to help not only with his knowledge of cars and ability to fix things, but also his support in other areas.  One of his favorite hobbies was collecting, repairing, and restoring old cars.  He was a very good auto mechanic and was frequently fixing vehicles for his friends and neighbors.  He also enjoyed collecting trains and model airplanes.  He often had a large train table in the homes that he lived in where he worked on his model train collections.

It was in the Philippines that he met his wife Teresita Caballero-Seludo Carson. They were married in 1969 and he remained devoted to her until her passing Feb. 15, 1994.  They raised 3 children together Dwayne J. Carson, Marvin Carson, and George R. Carson.  Oldest Son Dwayne J. Carson of Tampa, Fl, his Wife Amalia Carson, and granddaughter Jessica Carson, along with two great-grandchildren London and Kingston all still reside in Tampa.  Middle Son Marvin Carson, his wife Griseldis D. Carson, and their three kids DeAngelo R. Carson, Adeline E. Carson, and Mateo R. Carson all reside in Tullahoma, TN.  And youngest son George R. Carson with his wife Kristin S. Carson from Wesley Chapel, Fl and two grandchildren J’stice T. Carson from New Port Richey, Fl and Sadie A. Carson from Kentucky.

Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for all the condolences, kind words, and love that has been expressed from all the friends and family.  Bruce M. Carson was loved by many and we will miss him dearly. His memory will go on in the lives of his children and grandchildren.

Services will take place Friday November 16th, 2018 at 2:00PM at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, Florida 33513.

There will be a small reception for friends and family following at “Ford’s Garage Restaurant” located 25526 Sierra Center Boulevard, Lutz, Florida 33559.
