Charles Aldred Waltmire, 84, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Bay Pines VA Medical Center. Born on March 13, 1942, in Highland Park, Michigan, he was the son of Robert and Agnes Waltmire. Charles proudly served in the United States Air Force and worked for many years as a Technical Writer for Systems Research Laboratories (SRL), where he contributed to the critical aerospace plans used by frontline military pilots during the 1991 Gulf War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Richard Waltmire.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Anna May Waltmire; his daughter, Emily Donahue; and his granddaughter, Christa Donahue. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Patti Waltmire; Linda Balsewicz, the mother of his nieces and nephews; his nephew, Jeff Waltmire and his wife Shirley; his niece, Jayne Stacy, her husband Chris, and their son, great-nephew Shaughn Stacy; and his nephew, Hank Waltmire, his wife Kim, and their daughter, great-niece Jaquelyn Phillips. Jaquelyn is joined by her husband, Josiah, and their children, Silas, Barrett, Ezekiel, and Eden. Charles also leaves behind many loving friends who will remember him fondly.
A committal service with military honors will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at Bay Pines National Cemetery. The family welcomes the sharing of memories and condolences in honor of Charles’s life.
Dad, I miss you more than words can say. You were my partner in everything! I will cherish all the fond memories of us together, from coaching my childhood soccer and softball teams and our countless fishing trips throughout our lives, to teaching me how to fix anything and everything. You were the one I called for advice, and I relied on your wisdom so much. Most of all, I’ll miss the laughter we shared — those hard belly laughs that made our stomachs hurt, and the way you’d get so excited telling a joke that you’d start laughing before the punchline even arrived. I am so lucky to have had a dad who supported me in everything I did and enjoyed spending so much time with me. Thank you for being my dad. May you rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to Anna May, Emily, and Christa. I will miss my visits with chuck. We shared many laughs and I heard a lot of stories while he fed countless Milk Bones to my dogs. I enjoyed hearing stories from his life prior to Florida and he always told me how much he enjoyed talking with Britt and I. miss him dearly.
