Charles “Charlie” S. Wood Jr.


Charles “Charlie” S. Wood Jr., 77, of Largo, FL was born in Alexandria, VA January 24, 1938 to Charles Sr. and Virginia Wood, previously deceased. Charlie’s family lived many years in Antrim, NH where they owned the General Store. He was a graduate of Antrim High School, class of 1955. Charlie lived most of his life in Washington, NH where he was very active in Town Affairs. He was the Town Police Chief for more than 20 years, volunteer Fireman, member of the Board of Adjustment and a certified snowmobile safety instructor, giving classes for young & old. Charlie loved his family, snowmobiling, bowling and working not only in the previously mentioned positions, but as a store manager, a Wise Potato Chip Franchise owner. Charlie was also a proud Army Veteran. He was a very loyal and giving husband, father, and friend who will be deeply missed. Charlie’s contagious smile and friendly words or waves, brought smiles and friendship to all those around him. His abundant sense of humor and quick wit, brightened everyone’s day right up until the end. He was a deeply caring and loving soul that was the foundation of the Wood family, who will miss him greatly. Charlie leaves behind his loving wife Betty, of 53 years, a daughter Cindy and husband Joe Nixa of Ute, IA, a son Charles III and wife Deanna of Weare, NH, 4 Grandchildren Jessica Fuller and husband John of Manchester, NH, Sean Wood and wife Tabetha of Weare NH, Christopher Wood and finance’ Cheyanne of Concord, NH and Meghann Sudsbury of Ute IA; 6 Great-grandchildren – Jaymi, Noah, Aiden, Brayden, Persephanie and Abigail. Also brother James and wife Pauline of Largo, FL; brother Robert and wife Linda of Floral City, FL; brother Kenneth and wife Gerry of Warner, NH; brother David and wife Chitra of Augusta, GA and a sister Phyllis and Husband Joseph of Greenfield, NH; many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends in NH, IA and FL. Special thank you to Dr. Aaron Sheets and staff of Largo JSA and the Suncoast Hospice for the outstanding support and care Charlie received.
